The Benson Elliot approach begins with our relationship with our investors, delivering a consistent asset-driven, value-add, risk-sensitive and exit-focused investment strategy. Benson Elliot’s decision to target a modestly sized fund reflects the belief that speedier deployment of smaller capital pools is a sensible way to reduce erosion of transaction-level returns and, as a result, to maximise net returns to investors.

History Where we come from The firm closed its inaugural investment vehicle, Benson Elliot Real Estate Partners II, L.P., in 2006 with commitments of €338 million.
In 2010, Benson Elliot closed its second oversubscribed fund, Benson Elliot Real Estate Partners III, L.P., with commitments of €504 million. The firm closed its third oversubscribed fund, Benson Elliot Real Estate Partners IV L.P. in 2016 with €634 million in commitments. Subsequently, Benson Elliot was awarded the 2009 European Fundraising of the Year prize by Private Equity Real Estate. The firm is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Marc established and managed the successful Doughty Hanson & Co. European Real Estate Fund, where he directed the acquisition and management of a €2 billion property portfolio, achieving a 42.5% gross IRR and a 4.1x gross equity multiple.
After founding Benson Elliot in 2005, Marc was joined in 2006 by Trish Barrigan who spent the previous two years as Head of Global Real Estate Investments for Dubai Investment Group and ten years with the Whitehall funds in New York, Paris and London. The duo closed the firm’s first fund, Benson Elliot Real Estate Partners II, L.P. in May 2006.
Joseph De Leo joined Benson Elliot from Fortress Investment Group in Frankfurt, where as Managing Director he built and managed a team of forty real estate professionals and a €5.5 billion investment business.
Benson Elliot began investing its second oversubscribed fund, Benson Elliot Real Estate Partners III, L.P.
Ken MacNaughton, CFO was promoted to Partner. Ken oversees the Finance and Legal teams, and also serves as the firm’s Compliance Officer.
Benson Elliot began investing its third oversubscribed fund, Benson Elliot Real Estate Partners IV, L.P.

James Jakeman, Head of the UK was promoted to Partner. James leads Benson Elliot’s activities in the UK and Ireland.

Geographic Target Where we choose to invest Since inception Benson Elliot has pursued a pan-European private equity model, investing in key markets across Europe. The firm is active in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland.
